Scooter accident

This is my 2nd accident in a row within the past week!! Last week on X'mas Eve I was on my way to work and the roads are really slippery from the massive rain we were having that when I was making a turn into the parking lot I totally ate it. My scooter went skidding through the cement and I scraped up my right knee pretty bad. I was wearing black tights and I had holes all over it so I took it off as soon as I got to work and was walking around with a bloody knee trying to find a bandaid. HR and LP offices were closed so I'm going around trying to find a bandaid so ppl won't keep on asking what happened to me. One of my coworkers I told him I fell and he's like "why? Are u like drunk?" Ummm yea like I would be at 9AM!!! Anyways I finally get a bandaid and thank God I work in a department store I just went straight to the hosiery dept and got black tights so I can hide my bubu. I was already dissapointed I banged up my knee because I bought this really cute New Yrs mini dress and a scarred knee will NOT go with it! So THIS time you could tell how happy I was to get another one. I was already being cautious on my scooter because my tires are going bald so I was gonna actually get my scooter looked at today after work!!! Buuuuut I had to have another fall before then! This time I was making a left turn and when I did I lost control of the handle and was just wiggling till I fell right on my left knee!! I wanted to cry but with embarrassment of other cars behind me I just stood up and grabbed my scooter and kept on going. As soon as I walked into work I went straight to LP to got bandaged up and I kept on limping so I went to HR to get ice and was putting it on my knee but it was just swelling so bad I tried to stand up but it hurt so bad. I asked if I could do some work that didn't require so much walking but they told me I needed to rest and sent me home. Well I'm scared to get back on my scooter so I'm here sitting in HR with a bandaged LEFT knee now with ice on it so the swelling will go away. Great! Now I have 2 f*ed up knee that's gonna go great with my NYE dress! As for my scooter I hate it right now so someone can just have it. Lol

Life's a Bitch!!

Life is not fair and it's never going to be. It's something we have to deal with but it really makes me mad when good people pass away early and the bad ones stay forever. Why is that? Why do we have to put up with cheaters, liars, robbers, murderers, pschopaths...etc while all the genuinly good hearted people have to leave this world so soon? All the people around me who's got their life taken away were one of the finest people I have known and now their gone like they just dissapeared into air. I just hate how the bad guys always stay the longest. Is living life on earth a torture? Is that why all the good people get to go to heaven early? Maybe we're living in hell and if you're a good person then you get to leave this shithole to a more peaceful place... I should try to become a better person so I don't have to live forever... RIP Ariane Aria you will be missed. I hope to see you up there in the future and that you will still remember me. Pls flirt w me even if I become fat, wrinkly and old and also massage my feet. :-)

Sooo for the longest time I had a slight attraction toward this news reporter but his white hair threw me off so never knew how old he was (which honestly never really mattered just wanted to know if it was real or died) but OMG is Anderson Cooper one of the hottest guy in the world or WHAT!? Marc by Marc Jacobs iPad case

Yay I finally got the iPad case I've been wanting since I first laid my eyes on it!!! This holiday gifts were based on the new Marc by Marc Jacobs electronic accessories in Bloomingdales and we had everything from iPhone cases, earphones, laptop sleeves to USBs... The iPad case came in 4 different colors all in neon: pink, blue, yellow and black. I waited too long to get it so it got sold out in less than 2 weeks and then it got sold out on bloomingdales.com so I was really sad but last week I saw that we got 2 more of the pink one in so I snatched one before it got sold. I love it, it's so cute! Now all I need is an iPad! Lol

Robin's Jean!!

Yay I got my first pair of Robin's Jean!!!

We've had it at my store NY Moda for awhile and has been the hottest jeans and they go by so fast.

We carry both Men & Women but Women does a lot better than Men. Their very detailed and flashy so it doesn't attract the guys as much as the girls.

They're famous for the sparkly Swarovski crystals on pockets and also the trademark logo wings at the back hips.

They go anywhere from $180-$400 so pretty pricey and obviously the more the sparkle the more the cost. I got the black pants with Swarovski a single line all in the back and the pockets outlined. It's so- cute and it's a special edition just for our store so I had to have one plus I get it wholesale so I didn't have to pay the whole $279 ;-)

Christmas List 2010

This Christmas I don't really have a long list. Probably because I bought so much for Black Friday... that will be another blog I'm still putting away my stuff from Black Friday. lol

My list actually has gotten smaller too because I wanted an iPad but now I'm going to wait for the 2G so that's crossed out of my list. Then I wanted a digital photo frame and I found a good deal on it on Black Friday so I already bought it so it was an early X'mas gift for myself.

Now all I want is a diamond earrings which I found great deals on it for Black Friday also but I really don't want to buy diamonds for myself... Kinda depressing but then again I don't have anybody who would buy it for me sooooooo I might just have to buy it for myself :-(

The second on my list is a new bag. Been wanting a new bag foreverrrr I have been using the same bag since like High School and the other big bag I've used it for like 2yrs now and it's all worn out. GUCCI is have a Fall/Winter sale right now and saw the bag I wanted on sale!!!

Sequin handle clutch!

The other day I got to work early at Fashion Valley so I decided to walk around the mall to "window shop" but of course I ended up getting something. I walked into Express and they had a lot of cute sequin tops, dresses and accessories!

Black Friday Shopping List

Probably one of my favorite day of the whole entire year BLACK FRIDAY!!! The day after Thanksgiving the biggest sales and deals going on from the wee morning, some places even start at midnight!

YESSSS San Ysidro's Las Americas mall opens at midnight!!! Two years ago I kinda went crazy and shopped from midnight to 3 o'clock the next day, I went to 3 different malls! It was by far my record of the longest shopping time everrrr 15hrs!!!! My longest time before was 7hrs and I came home with bags full in both arms that I was getting tired just holding them. lol This time I was using my Target CC that I had a limit of $6,000 and since I was unemployed at the time I thought it was a good idea to just go crazy with it because I was so sure I was going to find a good job then (BIG mistake). Well Target caught on quick and immediately dropped my credit limit to $3,000 which I'm thankful for because who knew how much more I would have spent! lol

THIS year now that I'm employed and have 3 jobs and my CC's are getting paid off I am saving up big for Black Friday!!! My route this year is to go to the Las Americas Mall at midnight (haha yes I have to be the first one to get in the door), go back home and sleep, then head to fashion valley mall and shop until 2pm because I have to go to work. How convenient that I can go shop and go straight to work at the mall! Convenient? Wait more like dangerous! lol

Life game

I'm sure a majority of ppl have played or heard of the board game called "Life Game". That game is so true. Life IS just like a game, 90% off the population wants to fall in love, get married, buy a house and have kids. It's like everybody's goal, everybody has the same dream. Me on the other hand is in the 10% odd ball group. Yea I'd like to do all those things like the life game but I'm not counting on it. Like it's not my real purpose in life. My dream is so much bigger. I'm a pretty self centered bitch so I like to do good for myself first off. I'm not always looking for love or even wanting to find love. Y does everybody wanna fall in love?

No really.

I mean yea being in love is like the best feeling in the world but there's so much up and downs to a relationship! It's so hard to maintain a steady love without being bored. I just don't want to put so much effort in thinking and caring about somebody else right now in my life. I want to concentrate on myself, my future, my goals but if it comes to me of course it'll all change. I'm just saying I'm not looking as of right now. Anyway I went off topic so yea it's like everybody talks about love. ESPECIALLY girls every time hanging out with my gf's their always talking about boys or who their in love with or their guy problems. Everybody wants to find love and it's all just the same. I don't want to be the same as everyone else I don't want the same thing as everyone wants. I don't need to talk about guys or who I like or putting myself in the single market.

My goal in life is to be a strong independent business woman. I don't need a guy to make me happy or be successful because I'm capable of doing it on my own. I feel like if there was a guy in the way it's going to stop me from reaching that goal because I am pretty emotional and sensitive. Of course if he's supportive and will go through my emotional bitchy-ness which I will give high kudo's if he does than I will greatly be appreciative and work through it but that's my real goal. I just don't understand why people aren't looking for more than just falling in love and being with someone. That's why we have friends right? To share special memories, hang out, travel and attend parties and events. Why do we all try so hard to find someone and to be in love? It's live everywhere in movies someone ALWAYS falls in love with someone, songs are based a lot on love, books, poetry, ads and commercials...etc. It's EVERYWHERE I don't want to play the life game! I want something else. I just think it's funny how everybody is so different with race, age, ethnicity, personality,...etc but their all wanting the same thing to fall in love.

Shoe-holic!!!

So you know how every girl has their own addictions from handbags, shoes, cosmetics, clothes, hats, jewelry, chocolates...etc.

Well I've always thought my addiction was clothes because I love fashion and no matter how stuffed my closet is I can't buy enough of. Especially because I don't fit in a certain genre. I like to dress super feminine and girly one day and the next day I want to dress relaxed and tom boyish. So I have everything from leather pants to lacey dresses to jerseys. I like to mix up my style and dress super Japanese sometimes too ;-)

Lately, I've noticed that I've been buying a lot of SHOES. And my friends are always surprised how many shoes I own. Isn't it normal to own more than 10 pairs of shoes!? I always thought so but maybe not to others...

Tory Burch Reva Ballet Flats $195

My second pair I've been eyeing it foreverrrr the size kept on running out because I am the average shoe size of 7 so every time there's a sale on cute shoes my size runs out the quickest so I've been checking up at Charlotte Russe everyday that I work (it's in the same mall yay!! lucky me :-)) I HAD to have a thigh high black boots for this winter. Picture shows grey but I had to get the black it makes your legs wayyyy slimmer!

OVER THE KNEE FAUX SUEDE BOOT

$45.50 My last pair it was a total impulse buy because when I was in Vegas we went to the Fashion Show mall and they had the BIGGEST Forever XXI I mean HUGE. Like 2 stories and it's like the size of a department store and I'm typically not a huge fan of this store but while my friend was shopping around I was trying on their shoes and just had to get these pair. Plus you know how cheap the sales tax are in Vegas it's a place TO shop!! :-PSo they don't have the exact shoes on the Forever XXI site but it looks identical to the Sam Edelman "Winsford" Shearling Clog Booties. Except for that I didn't pay $225 but only $34 for mine ;-) 

Sooo I got these three pairs. Now the shoe I've been eyeing for a loooong time ever since I've laid eyes on them is this beautiful beast: 

 

Isn't she just stunning!?!? OMG I wanted them ever since I saw them at Bloomingdales. And when I came to work couple days later they were already goooooone! I was so- sad it's so HOT! Their embellished with Swarovski crystals and spikes it's like sexy but bad. I would totally pair them up with black shorts and a black vest and keep it simple and clean for the outfit and then BAM! on the shoes. Surprisingly they don't cost a fortune either. I was estimating around $500 but their only $200. I just might have to treat myself to them for X'mas this year :-}

Last but not least the ones shoe I AM going to get ONE day and hopefully one day soon are a pair of the classic Christian Louboutin stilettos. They just speak sexy I don't know what it is but anybody who's wearing the classic Louboutin's black stilettos with the bright red sole is so sexy and sophisticated. I am definitely buying myself a pair in the near future.

9 signs that a guy is reliable

So a friend of my blogged about this article she found in Japan and I thought it was funny and soooo true so I'm going to translate it. My opinions will be in italic.

9 Signs a girl can tell a guy is reliable

1. When walking on the street together the guy walks on the outter side.
This shows that the guy is to protect her and is trying to keep her away from danger by walking on the road side.
I've had guys do that in the past and thought it was so--- sweet. Love it when they just like kinda say it in a cold way like "hey walk over this side!" haha


2. When a guy carries heavy stuff for you.
Guys mostly do this to show that they are strong and it's a sign of their masculinity. Girls feel "saved" when guys help them carry stuff for you and it doesn't necessarily be very heavy. When you have a girl you like who's moving or even going on a vacation it is a guy's chance to show their masculine side by helping them with their carriage.
I personally like it when guys carry my bags. In Japan it's normal for guys to carry even girl's purse I know guy's here would never do that because they don't even want to be seen in public carrying a purse and I understand that. I don't need a guy to carry my purse but I think a guy should carry my shopping bags even if it's a Victoria's Secret bag!!! lol


3. When a guy is knowledgeable about a topic you know nothing about.
Girl's love it when guys can have a deep conversation about a topic that you barely know nothing about. It makes a guy look very knowledgeable, intelligent and smart. It's attractive to girl's when a guy has a career that is very different from others or have a very unique hobby. It seems to girl's that these types of guys are reliable because they can help them in a lot of different situations and they can introduce them to a different world.
Definitely agree. I have no idea how to build things or how things work inside of my house nor nothing about cars so I always relied on my boyfriends or guy friends. And I think guys should typically know how to change a flat tire, know all about sports and the rules, and how electricity works so you don't blow a fuse.


4. When a guy actually listens and cares about your worries about your future and problems with your friends.
It makes a girl comfortable and relieved when a guy actually cares and gives advices about your problems with your relationships and your future. These guys who are good listeners are reliable because their thinking about the girl and what can she do to solve her problems and worries. It's especially a plus when they can give good, honest advices looking from a guy's perspective also!
There's sooooo many guys who are just acting like their listening and nodding their heads but inside their head their thinking "omg girl's have so much drama I don't really care and don't wanna listen to their shit." Yes it's true so don't deny it but the one's who are really reliable and care about you will genuinely make effort and really think of ways to release your stress and worries so I think a guy's a keeper if they are good listeners and will give out their perspective of it even though it's not what I might want to hear. Shows that their not just trying to make me seem like I'm always right but making me see the other side you know.


5. When guys can park their car in a small narrow parking spot smoothly.
Driving is difficult for girls and ESPECIALLY for Asian female drivers (I think we all know that and seen it. lol). So when a guy parks his car in a tiny little spot with no problem it makes a girl's heart kinda quiver. It shows that a guy is reliable because they can do something a girl is not good doing or have difficulty doing. So the next time you go on a date maybe you should go on a driving date and show her what a good driver you are and show your good parallel parking skills ;-)
I think guys are super sexy when they have good parking skills. I personally love going fast it makes me all excited when we're passing through traffic. I can't STAND guy's who drive slow like a old man it irritates me soooo bad!! Or when their driving with two hands on the steering wheel like they show you at the DMV it's like ummm is this your first time driving!? lol It shows their confidence and isn't afraid to show it off and go a little crazy and fast even if I'm in the car :-) 


6. Before your test when a guy gives a good glance of your studies.
When a guy helps you with your studies just before your big test at school, bar exam, DMV test... whatever. Girl's are always attracted to intelligence. They don't have to be like Einstein but it's attractive when they can do more than you. Another thing it shows is how nice they are. Their actually willing and want to teach you and help you with your studies so that shows that their reliable when it comes to things you don't know about.
Being smart isn't really a qualification I look for in a guy BUT he needs to be smarter than me for sure. I'm not a very smart person so it's really not so hard, it's probably harder to find something who's dumber but if you're more stupid than I am than it's buh bye for sure!!!


7. When a guy doesn't hesitate about planning a date.
Their good at planning and making decisions quick so you both aren't like "sooooo what should we doooooo?" Girls are typically indecisive so they want a guy to lead and make decisions for them sometimes. Even making decisions for their date when you go out to dinner is a sign for them that their reliable. But it's important not to make ALL the decisions all the time it's got to be a good balance of hearing what she wants too and putting her input in your decision also.
Sooooo true!!! I love it when guys plan a date or even orders for me if we go out dining to his favorite restaurant or if we go eat and I never had that type of food then it's just sexy when they can just be like ok I'lll order for you then!! Shows I can rely on him for making decisions when I'm stuck between eating pasta or rice. lol


8. Even if you mess up and cause problems a guy doesn't become upset but just covers for you.
If a guy follows and covers your mistakes or your mess ups without getting angry then you know he's a reliable guy. Girl's love it when a guy has enough patience for them to say "it's ok you'll know not to do that from next time" and just be really nice about it. It shows how much of a grown up they are and girl's look up to guys like that. It's important though not to ALWAYS forgive them too easily and nicely with their mess ups because then you're just going to be an unreliable guy. So it's important to be cool and maintain a cold attitude when they mess up so they know not to do it over and over again.
Very true. I'm clumsy and I can be dumb sometimes (yes sometimes) so I make the same mistakes over and over again but it shows a guy that he can be tolerant with me even if I f*ck up so many times. They care enough that they will forgive me and patient enough that they won't scold or get mad which I like because if they do get upset that's just going to lead up to an ugly fight and I hate arguing or getting into a fight.


9. When you physically get hurt the guy will remain calm.
When a girl get's hurt physically it's important not to panic because then you're just going to look like an idiot and then the girl will start getting scary and she'll panic too! It makes a girl relieved when their panic but have somebody who's calm it makes them feel protected.
I personally hate it when I panic but the guy starts panicking with me cuz then I'll start freaking out and things just go bad. It really calms me down when a guy is taking the situation in a really peaceful way. I'll just be like wow he's so mature and reliable!

Not very TOMS-ish but it's a wrap around boot so I can have adjust the length! How cool is that but I don't know it looks kinda mummy-ish. 

So anyways those are my selections. Probably my top 3 would be the classic red, the glitter TOMS and the Ethiopian map classic. We'll see which one I'll really get! Watch me come home with all three of them!!! hahaha

So the best thing to do when I'm bored it to blog. I dun think blogging should be a chore. It should be more like u wanting to write, vent out, express your opinions and share your experiences and stories with ppl. Me personally I love to write and once I start I go on so my blogs tend to be long which is probably tedious for the ppl who are reading it but wtfver. lol I wanna blog because it's like a diary but not so secretive seen everyone can see and read it. I dun set my blogs on private because I want my family across the world (Japan to be specific) to be able to read it too! Plus I don't have anything to be secretive about anyways. I do really want to focus my blog toward my interest though which would be art & fashion. I want to talk about the trends, what's hot & what's out, my inspiration, wants of the season, my shopping sprees of what I bought... stuff like that. I gotta brag again...

about how much I LOVE my job!!!! :-) I love everything about it the hours, people, pay, benefits, merchandise and most of all the discounts!!! Yes most of my paycheck goes straight back but it's ok cuz I get nice clothes instead!! I'm ok with working for a bigger closet! hahaha But anyways the hours are great cuz I dun have to wake up too early the earliest shift I'll get is at 10 and that's only once a week and since I live so close I just have to wake up an hr earlier. Today I had to work at 11am and I totally woke up at 10:33 and I was still early to work! lol Anyways love how I can wake up early go to the gym, eat breakfast and go to work. Gives me so much more energy when I go work out first thing in the morning! I love the ppl who I work w too their sooo nice, respectful and helpful. Their not like other retails where everyone is unhappy, catty or bitchy. Their all appreciative when I help them, the managers know u by ur first name and they don't micro manage at all so I have freedom. The pay is great it's based on your experiences so each person has different pay rates and they audit you quarterly so you can get a raise 4times an year if you're doing good! They have great benefits although I'm not in any since I'm still part time but would like to open a 401K soon but not through them probably my bank. Lastly the discounts!!! YESSS and we're ALWAYS having sales!!! If you want to work retail then Bloomingdales is the best department store to work for!!! Love working at Bloomies !!!

This album is like a mix of break up songs where the singer's been dumped and want her to come back and the other's are wanting to find the right love.

Can def relate to a lot of these songs and I love the beat it's not sad or sappy really upbeat and rock-ish.

How to die...

So I use to always say I would wanna die in my sleep but I think that thought might have changed. My manager at Benihana told me he use to manage a restaurant for senior citizens and he'd have old ppl die while their eating all the time! Seriously what a happy way to die! Eating and being full and get sent to heaven (yup that's where I'm going for sure cuz I rarely lie. lol) He told me he'll have like 3ppl die every month! How sad but at that point I wouldn't even remember names or get too personal with them cuz how sad is that! It's like oh no Mrs Hubert died today while eating meatloaf! lol Anyways me love eating and always thinking about food I wanna die while eating dinner. It's not like they even choke dying they just stop breathing! That's my wish for how I would like to die.

Today I got to merchandise the mens department on the first floor. Usually am on the second floor merchandising women's apparel but since we're going to have a visit tomorrow we really had to make sure the floor was clean and looked nice. While I was recovering the Diesel section I found how nice the Diesel denims were. Their wash is so unique and I love the details on them too. The shape is nice, love the cut and the material is really good. I love the pocket design too and know why so many guys love Diesel jeans especially popular amongst Asians because the fit is so good. I love a guy who can pull off a nice pair of Diesel jeans ;-) And who can cook may I add!! hehe

What to do when you get pulled over...

Came across this article today and thought it was really knowledgeable so I wanted to share it with ya'll.

In what he calls an "educational video" that's widely circulated on YouTube, comedian Chris Rock offers advice on what to do when you get pulled over for a traffic violation.


How Not To Get Your Ass Kicked by the Police!

"Obey the law" he says. "Stop immediately" and "stay in your car with your hands on the wheel." Finally, "if your woman is mad at you, leave her at home. There's nothing she'd like to see more than you getting your [you-know-what] kicked."

It's a dead-on spoof of a hard truth: Respect authority. If you don't, you increase the odds of a pricey ticket.

"Everything in that video is absolutely true," said Sgt. Matthew Koep of the South Plainfield, N.J., Police Department. "It's funny, but it's accurate."

Citizens who are generally law-abiding are likely to come into contact with the police only under two circumstances: If you're a crime victim or you get pulled over for a traffic violation.

Police officers are not out to make your life miserable, but to make sure you're following the rules of the road and not endangering yourself or those around you.

With a few exceptions, and an egregious traffic violation is top among them, cops aren't mandated to write tickets. Most would rather send you on your way with a friendly warning -- that can save you time and money.

But handle the situation with an aggressive or arrogant attitude and you can expect to squeeze an expensive court date into your busy schedule.

Play Nice

First rule: don't argue.

"I get this all the time," said Karen Rittorno, a nine-year veteran with the Chicago Police Department. "'What are you stopping me for? I didn't do nothing.' If they try to take charge of the traffic stop, they're not going to get out of it without a ticket," she said. "We ask the questions, not them."

Accept that the police have caught you doing something that's against the law, such as speeding or gliding through a stop sign.

"All we do is react to what people do when you pull them over," said Dennis Fanning, a homicide detective and veteran officer with the Los Angeles Police Department. "We don't instigate the stuff, but we will react to you. The situation will escalate or de-escalate depending on how that person reacts."

To argue with cops is akin to calling them idiots. Don't do that. "That's implying that I pulled you over for no reason and that bothers me," Koep said.

Keep It Honest

Don't lie, either. Cops are trained to note the human characteristics of lying, including twitching and looking to the left, and they know the right questions to ask to suss out the truth.

Fanning estimates that nine out of 10 people lie to him. "It's an attack on our intelligence," he said.

Moreover, the truth can set you free. Koep recalled an incident when he pulled a young guy over for speeding.

"He looks straight at me and says, 'You know, officer, I wasn't even paying attention. I just had the best date of my life. I just met my future bride. I'm just on cloud nine right now.'

"The guy was completely serious," Koep said. "How are you going to write that guy up after that? Who makes that kind of stuff up?"

Of course, don't use pejoratives when addressing the police, unless you're eager for a ticket. But other words may backfire, too. Rittorno works in a crime-ridden section of Chicago where the majority of people she pulls over for traffic violations don't have licenses or insurance, she said.

"So I get a lot of, 'I'm sorry, baby. I didn't mean it, sweetheart,'" she said. "I hate being called 'baby' or 'sweetheart.' I'm 'officer' to you.''

The police don't like being talked over, either. "Be polite," said Chicago Officer Mike Thomas. "You have your rights as a citizen, too, but it doesn't do you any good to talk while he's talking."

Cops know that people are nervous when they get pulled over, and they expect a certain amount of jumpiness when they approach a car. Rittorno even admitted she's intimidated in the same situation. "I'm the police and I get scared if I get pulled over," she said.

But did you know they're on edge, too? You know who they are, but they don't know whether you're a good guy or a bad guy. "The only thing on his mind when he approaches you is safety," Thomas said. "You know you don't have a gun in your lap, but the officer doesn't know it."

Rittorno, for one, said she assumes everyone has a gun. "I'm always on 10," she said, referring to her high level of vigilance. "I take it down depending on their demeanor or what I see."

Stay Calm

When those headlights go on, it's best to pull the car to the right, stay in the car, turn the interior lights on if it's dark and put your hands on the steering wheel.

Don't make any quick movements, and don't turn to grab your purse or put your hands in your pocket or under your seat to retrieve your license -- until the officer instructs you to. Then, do it slowly.

Don't move to open the glove box either, until directed. And do that slowly, too. Let the police shine a light inside the box before you reach in. Many criminals hide guns in glove boxes.

"What's going to cause the situation to get worse is for the fear factor to rise in that officer," Koep said. "The officer is more likely to cut you a break as long as you can reduce that fear. …If you're friendly with me, not arguing or denying what happened, that lowers the fear factor and will make me a lot more cooperative with you."

Don't boast about who you know, either. That can infuriate cops. They consider it a veiled threat to their livelihoods. Fortunately, most municipalities have laws in place to insure that an officer is not fired or reprimanded for ticketing, say, the mayor's daughter.

Finally, never try to buy off a cop. "In those instances where they've offered me a bribe," Fanning said. "I loved making those arrests."
